Ariane Gray Hubert : An Artist in a new indo-world music performance entitled PIANO RAG(a) TIME
As a Franco - American artist, Ariane is a pioneering musician creating music and new blending ventures between sound & vision of women composers and artists of the 21st century. She presents an innovative cross cultural musical performance called "Piano Rag(a) Time" that reflects her musical journey of a woman crossing Eastern and Western traditions in a captivating way.
The performance "Piano Rag(a) Time" especially created by Ariane Gray Hubert, is a concert beyond the classical worlds of world music, jazz and classical with Piano, Vocal & Indian Percussions, Tabla & Ghatam.
The program is a tribute to both Indian and Western traditions composed and improvised by Ariane Gray Hubert for her new world music trio.
This also includes some Indian and Western music blended with original compositions of Ariane Gray Hubert and both based on Indian ragas (like Kafi, Basant, Bhairavi…), Carnatic music and Western, American compositions.
But don’t expect to hear Indian ragas duplicated on Ariane’s piano!
The aim of the new AGH world music Trio is to provoke new areas where taal/rhytms and Indian ragas / melodies go along with western polyphony and new combinations of sounds and rhythms all together.
Ariane Gray Hubert on piano & vocal, is accompanied by Akram Khan (tabla) and S.Karthick (ghatam, konnakol).
Compositions : MANIK, TAMIL NADU, DERVICHE TOURNEUSE, MY CARMEN, BACH in SEVEN HEAVEN and MY SOUL.
